and the winner is...

i made a poll asking you what to begin our practical seo lessons with: a website or a blog?

and because you said so [see the results], and also because i want and need to start with the website, we will start with the site. the theoretical concepts are the same, but we will see them in action on this website.

let me tell you more about the website. the site belongs to my family, which owns a little pension in brasov. they provide nice accommodation in brasov, romania. you can also make online reservations. the page is only in romanian language. but that has to change. because you wanna go to brasov and you wanna find a nice place to stay in brasov...

but those that voted for the blog, stay close because there are almost no differences between seo for a blog and seo for a website... meanwhile prepare yourselves by installing firefox browser... it works great, it is easy to install and you will be able to install a lot of seo tools!!!
you can download firefox for free from the right column of this blog!!!

before you start your blogging business...

... because there are more and more blogs, because it's so easy to build a blog, because there are a lot of people that have something to say, and because you want your blog to be relevant, to attract traffic and you want your advertising programs to generate revenue for you, you have to ask yourself some questions:

  1. are a very good writer? one of the best?
  2. is your voice very well known? are you an expert and always referred by others?
  3. are you already famous in some way? wealthy? pop-star? politician?
if you answered NO to all of these questions then you shouldn't blog about:
  • politics
  • gadgets
  • programming
  • sports
  • internet marketing (why this blog, then?!)
  • blogging (why this blog, then?!)
  • celebrity gossip
  • apple
  • google
  • movies
  • news in general
why? because there are a lot of bloggers that don't answer no to those 3 questions or a lot of bloggers that blog about those 11 things and they don't need traffic... so it's very crowded there. of course... if you find a niche, you could give it a try...

you could argue that techcrunch has huge traffic... yes, it does... but can you tell me what's the second best blog in the techcrunch's area? no. i can't. so, if you can beat techcrunch, sure, go for it!!! don't hesitate for one second! but if you're not quite sure, then find you own niche!!!

next we will find out how to choose a niche!!!
and maybe choose one for our new blogging for money project!!!
